Owens, Arthur

The Professional Work of Owens, Arthur Leo

Arthur Leo Owens (aka "Doodle”) born Nov. 28, 1930 in Waco, Texas; died Oc. 4, 1999 in Nashville, Tennessee, was an accomplished country music songwriter. In 1966, Owens moved to Nashville and began co-writing with Dallas Frazier, a relationship that resulted in over 100 singles. Owens had a long songwriting partnership with Dallas Frazier, with whom he wrote several No.1 country hits for Charlie Pride.

Other hits included Right Left Hand, Fourteen Minutes Old, Touching Home and Johnny One Time, which charted for Brenda Lee. Arthur Leo Owens was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1999. Doodle received a BMI Million-aires (1 million performances) award for his composition of Fourteen Minutes Old.
