Cheating Songs: Who’s Cheating Who?
If Will Rogers had been a country fan, he'd probably have amended one of his most famous quips to say that nothing is certain but death, taxes and cheating songs. Just like trains and booze, songs about sleeping around have long been a staple of country music.
Earl Thomas took Holding Her and Loving You to the top of the country charts in 1983. I just love this song. It gets to your heart. Somehow it plays and feels like a love song with its Nice Romantic Style.
Barbara Mandrell was the first performer and the first female to win the Country Music Association's (CMA) "Entertainer of the Year" (1980, 1981) award twice. She also won the "Female Vocalist of the Year" (1979, 1981) twice. Married, But Not to Each Other, helped usher in these awards.
